A concept piece developed for MK Contemporary Art will be rebuilt as a free-standing structure in the hills near Valley Ford, California.
The paper and wood structure first shown at MK Contemporary Art in Santa Cruz has been acquired by Lady Bee. It will be rebuilt at LB & Beto's property in Two Rock, California — the first time this temple will stand assembled, outdoors, at full scale.
It will be christened The Temple of Our Lady Bee.
The work ahead is weatherproofing, foundation design, and installation.
Updates will follow as the site takes shape.

About Lady Bee
The name is a dedication.
Christine Kristen, known as LadyBee, was Burning Man's art curator from 1999 to 2008, and ran the art grant program for its first ten years. She is the organization's archivist, art collection manager, and photo gallery editor, and holds an MFA in sculpture from the Art Institute of Chicago. She co-authored The Jewelry of Burning Man and curated PlayaMade: Jewelry of Burning Man, which opened at
the Fuller Craft Museum in 2017.
The Honorarium program she built in those first ten years is the same program that later funded four of my large-scale works in Black Rock City — the Photo Chapel, EGO, the Totem of Confessions, and the Chapel of Babel.
Temples get named for people who made room for them. This one is hers.
